The Lake Chinocup Catchments approved to have Carbon Neutral plantings as a three-year project site.
Seedlings have been planted in 2004 & 2005 with a further 20,000 seedlings being planted for 2006. The total for the three year project is 60,500 seedlings.
With the aid of Carbon Neutral trees we hope that some areas can be restricted and the water table lowered. It is evident from inspecting the landscape that many more trees need to be planted.
The main apprehension for the landholders in the catchments is the rising groundwater table and the excess salt that is being brought to the surface, causing the soil to be uncreative for farming practices.
