The University of South Australia's new Anne & Gordon Samstag Museum of Art celebrated its opening on 11 October 2007 with the exhibition Wonderful World, a project which showing the scale and superiority of Australian contemporary art practice, and representing the cultural objective of the Samstag Museum of Art.
Formerly the UniSA Art Museum, the Anne & Gordon Samstag Museum of Art has been named in the respect of these two distinguished benefactors to Australian culture, whose outstanding bequest is managed by the Samstag Program through the University of South Australia.
Designed by John Wardle Architects in association with Hassell, the Samstag Museum is situated in the Hawke Building and features three substantial and elegant eco art galleries and eco exhibitions over two levels. It is a facilities that corresponds architectural distinction.
