Light, heat, and even your average dinner meal all requires electricity. Electricity is an essential part of our lives in this time and day. Imagine how your life would be without energy. Most of our essential items at home or workplaces are either electrical or required electricity to make them work. From lights to TV, from computer to microwave, everyone is using electricity constantly. Without simple item such as light bulb, people would still use fire, candle or a torch to see in the dark. And of course, all modern appliances like laptop or refrigerator would not function.
However, people believe electricity as a never ending resource. Many of us tend to leave lights on even when we are not in the room, or leaving most electrical items turned on all day long even though no one is using them. Such actions not only hurt our wallet directly but also contribute in destroying our environment. Lighting
A light bulb that you use more than one hour per day should be replaced with its equivalent compact fluorescent bulb.
If you don't use or need any lighting, turn it off.
An outdoor-rated equivalent compact fluorescent bulb should be used to replace your traditional outdoor lighting.
Fixtures with electronic ballasts and T-8, 32-watt fluorescent lamps are more energy efficiency than others.
Outdoor security lights with a photocell and/or a motion sensor should be used so they can only consume electricity once needed.
Miscellaneous
Shut down your computers and turn off your monitor when you leave for the day.
Ensure electric blankets are turned off in the morning.
Only turn heater on once needed or better yet, wear an extra layer of clothing.
Turn off your large screen TVs when no one is watching.
Remind yourself to turn off or even unplug all electrical appliances including radio, stereo, heater, pool pump, hair curling iron and even coffee maker when not in use.

Try to choose a refrigerator with power saver option.
Set your schedule to clean the refrigerator coils once a year.
Adjust the temperature of your refrigerator from 1 to 2 degrees Celcius and freezer temperature from -17 to -15 degrees Celcius.
Make sure that all door gaskets are seal tightly to prevent heat loss.
If you don't use a refrigerator or freezer, unplug it.
Put a lid to cover your pot when cooking, it helps you to cook faster.
Turn on kitchen exhaust fan when cooking and turn it off when you finish.
Instead of simmering foods on the stove hours after hours, use the Crock-Pot.
Put dirty dishes into the dishwasher only when they have been rinsed with cold water.
