The Australian National Wildlife Collection (ANWC) Traveling Wildlife Display is a practical touring exhibition supported by the Macquarie Bank Foundation and Visions Australia.
Now permanently on show at CSIRO Discovery Centre in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory, it highlights the role of the ANWC and other natural history groups in documenting, understanding and preserving Australia's unique biological heritage. The display includes 50 biological samples and 100 bird eggs in four display and interactive cases, along with a touch-screen unit.
Visitors enjoy a close-up, hands-on experience of Australia's wildlife, through the use of objects from the collection such as eggs, bones and study skins.
Stories featured in the display include the puzzlement behind the original description of the platypus.
