Karawatha Forest Protection Society

Karawatha Forest Protection Society was established in 1991 in response to the overwhelming amount of public opinion that wanted to see the Karawatha bushland saved from development. In the same year, the Brisbane City Council introduced the Bushland Levy that made the purchase of significant lands possible. The Forest will be broadened through the addition of land through the Bushland Levy and  protection of natural corridors.

 

Karawatha Forest is now managed by the Brisbane City Council with guidance from a management plan that was set up with consultation with local community.
