At Savings & Loans, we are committed to supporting the community and environment. Through our focus on promoting awareness of climate change issues, building capacity for disadvantaged people through financial literacy and education, we are constantly striving to make a positive impact on the community and lessen our environmental footprint.
As a member-owned financial institution, Savings & Loans provides our members with the best products and services available, with the lowest possible fees. Because we are a credit union, any profits we make are invested back into our products and services, as well as into the community. Corporate Social Responsibility programs Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs include community partnerships, environmental initiatives and volunteering projects that focus on building sustainable communities. For our efforts, we have been awarded two consecutive 'Silver Star' ratings in the Corporate Responsibility Index, an international measurement of CSR performance, and in 2006 we were judged 'Best New Entrant' in the Index.
Savings & Loans is looking for new ways to bring environmentally friendly products to our members. Our Green Car Loan* offers a reduced interest rate to people who purchase fuel-efficient vehicles, making it more affordable to help the environment. We also have Green Personal Loans providing reduced interest rates for environmentally friendly purchases, such as a solar hot water system, rain water tank, solar panels, grey water treatment system or energy efficient whitegoods.
For more information about our loans, please contact us. In addition to our Green Loans, Savings & Loans has also vowed to be carbon neutral by 2010, by cutting our use of natural resources, using renewable energy and carbon offsetting. Through our partnership with Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA), our staff members regularly volunteer their time to plant trees and vegetation, and we encourage our members to join us. Community Partnerships Besides working with CVA, we also have strong community partnerships. with The Smith Family and the Salvation Army.
Alongside The Smith Family, Savings & Loans funds 130 scholarships to encourage disadvantaged children to stay in school. Our partnership with the Salvation Army delivers financial education, budgeting advice and interest-free loans to disadvantaged people in our community. Savings & Loans has also recently launched a new community & environment blog, giving members and the community a chance to discuss environmental issues, concerns, and other relevant topics.
Savings & Loans encourages everyone to check out the blog and share any comments that you may have. For more information on the Savings & Loans CSR program, community partnerships, or joining in our environmental efforts, visit the community section of our website.
