For example: exacting industries such as pharmaceutical, beer, wine and water filtration require refined diatomite; on the other hand, absorbent industries (ie: kitty litter) use a non- refined diatomite containing varying particle sizes; while the desiccant industry requires uniform particles that are graded but not refined.
