Exobiological organisation is familiar with important State legislation, local government rule and techniques about the management, detection and defense of Koala populations. State Environmental Planning Policy 44 (SEPP 44) aims to support proper management and management of areas of natural vegetation that provide habitat for koalas to make sure a permanent free living population over their present range. This is achieved by identifying areas of core koala habitat and by requiring the training of plans of management before development consent can be decided in relation to these areas. Certain local governments such as Port Stephens have prepared their own strategy for Koala Management (Port Stephens inclusive Koala Plan of Management 2002). Exobiological Koala Management uses the Spot Assessment Technique (SAT) published by the Australian Koala Foundation to establish koala movement on and around a site.
