The Last Jar is an authentic Irish Pub in Melbourne’s CBD, serving real Irish food with real Irish beer like Guinness, Kilkenny and a few of their friends. Take your time sampling the extensive Irish whisky list and compare it to the Scotch on offer. Stay for a bite or dinner and enjoy a creamed onion soup, an Irish stew, A Dublin coddle or a steak of your choosing, all served with potatoes. A selection of Irish and Australian cheese is on the menu, or perhaps you will be tempted by the Guinness ice cream! To every ‘foodies’ delight much of the food is made from scratch on site including the bread, smoked fish, mustards and sausages.
The building has been a pub for nearly 100 years and maintains a traditional feel you expect. The bar is lined with stools, large windows that carve around the building to draw envy from passers by and there are pockets of lounges to have a chat and a brew. The fire will be crackling away in the winter, the bright farmhouse dining room hosts hungry people all year round, the secret beer garden upstairs draws a crowd and a curious ‘confessional’ style snug will get people talking.
