Difference between a Gas Boosted and a Electrically Boosted Hot Water System

When it comes to Solar Hot Water here at North East Solar, we get asked about the difference between a Gas Boosted Split System and a Electrically Boosted Split System. They both are very efficient solar hot water systems - but they vary in several aspects.

A Gas boosted solar water heater is the most energy efficient method of heating water that we know of at the moment. In fact a gas boosted Split solar hot water system has been proven to reduce purchased energy consumption by up to 3900 kWh each year. Once think about it, that equals to a 2.7kW solar electricity system.

An electrically boosted Split system solar water heater is the most energy efficient method of heating water - when gas isn’t an option. That means it's the second most efficient choice you can make. An electrically boosted split solar hot water system can reduce purchased energy consumption by up to 3700 kWh each year – that’s the equivalent of a 2.5kW solar system.
