Gippsland Water delivers reliable, high-quality water, wastewater and waste recovery services to ensure social, environmental and economic benefits to domestic and commercial clients across Central Gippsland.
Gippsland Water's client base also encompasses major commercial clients from manufacturing, power generation, health service, timber, paper and dairy industries.It services a geographic region of 5,029 square kilometres and a population of more than 130,000 people.
Gippsland Water manages approximately 100 water storage basins throughout the region including Moondarra Reservoir, its largest catchment. Moondarra Reservoir was constructed in the late 1950s and is situated in the foothills of the Baw Baw Ranges on the Tyers River.
This facility can hold up to 30,300 megalitres & also operates a Resource Recovery Facility and agribusiness located on a 8,000 ha site 20km south-east of Sale, Victoria. It treats 70% of the prescribed liquid and solid industrial waste generated across the region and has been operational since 1987.
The ecologically responsible agribusiness uses innovative and sustainable farming practices to enhance the return from Gippsland Water's land assets.
These include plantations, grain and fodder production and a livestock program which comprises approximately 3,000 head of cattle - making it the second largest closed cattle herd in Gippsland.
